Mar 13

Another beautiful day at the MGC traps. Plenty of sunshine, mid 50’s for temps with a W/SW breeze. Enough of a breeze to make the left targets high and the rights a lot lower. We all had to shoot ’em all though.
I don’t know how many GREEN targets came flying out of the trap houses, a LOT, but in the end, EVERYONE got treated to their choice of a burger or brat with the fixings. Thank you Mark Cameron for firing up the big grill and putting on a good feed. Very tasty.
As has been the case on most weeks the first squad gets everybody’s attention. A new, of last year, shooter Rochelle Bethel showed the boy’s how it’s supposed to be done and smacks the first 25 straight of the day, besting both her son and husband, and posts a 46. Nice shooting Rochelle. A couple squads later Gary Pederson puts up the first 48 of the day. Three other shooters also posted 48’s, Derek Fischer, David Maples and Daryl Boucher. Of those 4, Derek ran the handicap targets. Great shooting everybody.
If any of you followed the scores at the Spring Grand in Tucson a few weeks ago, Derek Fischer had a VERY good week down there. One day, a very windy day, Derek, along with 2 other shooters, one being Bob Munson, tied for high score in a Handicap event with a 95. That got Derek a 1 1/2 yd. punch to the 25 yd. line. Yeah, the one he had been practicing at all summer long at the MGC Jackpot shoots. And he hasn’t let up since. After posting the 48 today he said, “ain’t good enough”, and he went out and shot a 49….for high score of the day. Way to go Derek.
